Gifted and Talented at DC-21

DC-21 prepares students for post-secondary opportunities by providing a rigorous and accelerated education in a supportive, relationship oriented educational setting. Our goal is to increase the number of students in the Talent Pool and ensure fully identified Gifted and Talented (GT) students have access to rigorous and appropriate academic courses so they are on track to reach post-secondary goals.

Programming and Services

On-site concurrent enrollment classes, multiple CTE pathways, differentiated learning in the classroom
One-on-one check ins with the GT coordinator
Professional development on identification pathways and characteristics of giftedness so student strengths and talents are recognized and developed
Resources and professional coaching for staff to build their capacity to differentiate for high ability learners to increase rigor and engagement
Social emotional supports facilitated by the Mental Health Team
25-26 Family Series Virtual Sessions

Identification and Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs)

Gifted and Talented students develop individualized goals that support academic growth and social/emotional development.
Use of culturally responsive tools (Gifted Rating Scales, Accuplacer, ACCESS scores, Talent Portfolios) to identify students and address inequities in GT/HGT/ME/Talent Pool student populations.

Communication

Enrichment opportunities for gifted students and opportunities for families to engage with the community will be shared via the family schoology website or by email.
